Dark Knight Bust 3

This is a quite unique Batman bust. Look at dem long ears! In many ways, this resembles the horrific long-eared Batman drawn by Kelley Jones back in the early 1990s, very atmospheric, with claw-like ears at least a foot long.

The origins of this bust are somewhat in question. Some of the members of the Clubhouse Hero's Emporium argue that this appears to be a recast of the Sugita Batman kit (well, the top part, anyway), except the scale's off -- this bust is easily twice the size as the same section of the Sugita kit. But the resemblance is uncanny, right down to the musculature. Also, this bust is cast in a very hard white porcelain-like resin, as opposed to the normal softer resin of the Sugita. (One poster noted that there is such a thing as an expanding urethane that is used to create enlarged copies; here's a link, if you're interested.)

In any case, this is one very large (7.5" to the tips of his ears), very cool-looking, and very clean bust. And when I say clean, I mean clean. No mold lines, no flash, no pinholes, no nothing. Smooth as a baby's bottom. There was absolutely no need to sand or putty or do anything to this puppy other than prime and paint. It even came with four felt pads pre-attached to the bottom. And, best of all, I only paid $20 for it. What a deal!

As to paints, I decided to go with a dark gray/dark blue scheme, with gold metallic for the chest logo. The paints I picked, although flat acrylics, ended up having a bit of a sheen, which worked out just fine. All in all, this one painted up really fast and with excellent results, if I do say so myself.
